WHEN: Starting May 18th and thereafter the 3rd Tues of each month from 10am to 11pm – times can be flexible.
WHAT: Heatherwood Retirement would like monthly visits. Flexible to the time being in the morning or early afternoon. Approx # of attendees: 15, Pet type preferred: Dog. Approx. number of attendees is estimated.
COVID Precautions: SITE – Residents are still slow in returning to activities. They prefer that the handler of the pet have the COVID-19 vaccination. More COVID guidelines will be given if they do not. These guidelines include a negative test within 2 weeks of the visit if not vaccinated. KPETS General – Visiting volunteers must have a signed KPETS volunteer agreement COVID-19 addendum on file with KPETS and follow current CDC, state and local COVID-19 guidelines during each visit. When the weather is warmer we prefer outside visits but when it’s too cold/inclement weather for that, we recommend: One room designated as a visit area for attendees to come in one at a time to pet the animal. A professional staff person (teacher, therapist, etc.) must be present during the entire visit. Everyone must wear face coverings and use hand sanitizer before and after petting the animals. Social distancing must be followed with 6ft between our handler and participants. If participants or our volunteers are uncomfortable at any time or believe the precautions are not being followed they will end the visit immediately for the safety of all. No one should participate if they are feeling at all unwell. Visits may be cancelled at the last minute due to the fluid status of state and local COVID precautions. To protect the pets from becoming overwhelmed and tired, visits are limited to not more than 1 to 1.5 hours per team.
