Touching Lives, Warming Hearts

Through Human & Animal Interactions

Step One: Orientation

Thank you for your interest in becoming a KPETS Therapy Team. Attending an Orientation is your first step in the registration process.

Due to room sizes and safety concerns, we are limiting the size of this group training.   Only the participants pursing KPETS Registration can attend the orientation. Anyone who accompanies you who is not registering will need to wait outside. All participants will be required to follow the facility guidelines and may be asked to wear a mask. Please respect safe distancing guidelines during the Orientation.

Prerequisites:

~ NOTE: At this time, we only offer registration in PA.
~ Pet must be at least one year old
~ Pets must have lived with handler for at least six months.
~ Handler must be 18 yrs or older *

The orientation session is approximately three hours long and provides information about KPETS’ mission, services, what the expectations are for the pet and handlers, and what to expect when you go on visits.

A non-refundable application fee of $40 per handler is charged to cover the costs of orientation, group evaluations and individual visit evaluations.

* Younger volunteers under 18 may become a Registered Junior Handler. The parent must be a registered KPETS Team with the same pet. Junior handlers will need a letter of recommendation from a professional trainer or other KPETS volunteer. This will need to be forwarded to KPETS for pre-approval prior to registering for a Group Evaluation. The junior handler must complete the entire registration process.
